Haxe Forum > retro platforms/nintendo ds?

  • Are there any plans to port haxe to retro platforms like commodore/zx spectrum?
NME wouldnt be possible of course
    Or maybe nintendo DS?

  • I think you can run Ocaml on android so maybe you can compile haxe, so maybe see if Ocaml can run on retro machines would be a good starting point. I don't think the community is looking to support retro machines but if you get it running I am sure they would be interested.

  • Ocaml isnt needed on the 'platform' unless you were planning to build the actual haxe compiler on there.. which wouldnt make sense. For instance, javascript doesnt 'support ocaml' but haxe can target that.

The c++ target would be the best for a target such as DS - you'd need to check out the hxcpp library and see how appropriate the code is - i doubt that there is a plan to target this however - as NME is where most of the cpp work is spent atm.

  • Tony, true but if you can compile neko for the platform then maybe you could use NME without changes, but probably not, it would be certainly really cool if there was neko for android, it would be a bit like air.
