haXe Forum > Is swhx still alive?

  • Hi all,

I cannot manage to compile any samples in swhx. Seems that it has not be updated for the latest haxe API.
Is the project still being developed(I see the last update is in 2008)? Or any other alternative project similar to swhx?

    Thanks!

    Andy

  • Swhx is still very much usable, just the samples are outdated. If you'd like to try something more regularly updated you could check out HippoHx which is a layer on top of Swhx that you could try.

  • I use SWHX. It's very useable, I can confirm that. There has been no real need probably to develop it further for a while now. I need it the upcoming years, so if there's a new haXe feature breaking the current SWHX code, I'll definately have to patch it if no-one does it. If that counts for "being actively maintained", then yes, it's alive... ;-)

  • TIP: try combining it with ASwing/HX for the GUI part... It definately works out.

  • Thanks for your replies!
I will spend some more time to work on swhx (and hippohx).

BTW, any chance to get some projects(neash, xpath etc.) moved to github? So that we can submit patches and track the updates easier. I think git really helps in getting more ppl contribute to the projects...

Furthermore, if haxelib can mirror git/svn or directly install a lib from git/svn, it will be awesome too...
